Hello all,
Update on H.R.5 and the “Student Success Act” currently working its way through the US House of Representatives.
This Bill will come to a vote in the House on Friday February 27th.
Last night there was a HashTag rally on Twitter to drum up opposition to this Bill. Tremendous credit must be given to the folks at PatriotJournalist.com (#PJNET) for organizing this! The HashTag was #StopHR5 and HR5 was mentioned in over 17,000 tweets! That is incredible and raised the awareness necessary to defeat this in a house vote.
Despite many GOP House members and lobbyists trumpeting this as a “roll back” of the US Dept of Ed’s interference in local education, its nothing of the sort. In fact, its a Trojan Horse! and its deeply disappointing to learn this Bill is being sponsored by so many, so called conservatives! I question how many of the House members even know what is in the Bill and what it means for K-12 education? I’d guess not many…but they should know the folks are watching and paying attention this time.
Your action is required now! You can call, email, Tweet and Facebook your congressman/woman.
Please call your Congressman/woman and urge them to reject the “Student Success Act (H.R.5)” for this Bill aims to Crush Religious Freedom, Private School Autonomy and Parental Rights. More information on this Bill and its chilling effect on our Catholic schools is here.
